A spate of road crashes in Fleet has left three people in hospital, one with suspected head injuries.

They all happened yesterday morning, firstly when a Citreon C1 went off Fleet Road and into a ditch at about 7.20am.

Shortly afterwards, a Mercedes Sprinter van and a Ford Focus collided on the same road.

A man was airlifted to Plgrim Hospital, Boston, with possible head injuries.

Then a double decker bus carrying children to school collided with two cars on the A17 in Fleet.

It happened at about 8.15am and the children on board the bus were shaken but uninjured.

The drivers of a Citreon Xsara and a Mazda involved in the crash, a 48-year-old man from King’s Lynn and a 46-year-old man from Wisbech respectively, were both taken to Pilgrim Hospital for treatment and x-rays.

The accidents held up parents taking their children to Twigglets Day Nursery in Branches Lane, Fleet, and manager Julie Buckley said: “Quite a few parents were late in because they couldn’t get through from Fleet Road and they were delayed.

“None of them were involved in the accidents but it was difficult to find a way to get in because of the roadworks going on as well.”
