Three people have been injured after separate crashes in Sutterton and West Pinchbeck on Tuesday.

A man was taken to Boston’s Pilgrim Hospital with serious injuries after a yellow Renault Megane he was driving collided with a white Mercedes lorry on the A16 near Sutterton Roundabout at about 6pm.

The man had to be cut free from the Renault by fire crews before he was taken to hospital.

A section of the A16 was closed for almost seven hours while the car and lorry were recovered and the road cleared.

Earlier, a Citreon Saxo and Mitsubishi Lancer collided in Bourne Road, West Pinchbeck, at about 8.10am.

A woman who was driving the Citreon and a man driving the Mitsubishi had to be released by firefighters using cutting equipment before the woman was taken to Peterborough City Hospital with as yet unconfirmed injuries.

However, the man was not thought to have been seriously injured.

The road was closed for about two and a half hours while both cars were recovered and fuel spillage was cleared up.
