TRAFFIC disruption can be expected at Holbeach’s central five-way junction between February 21 and 25, while a new “smart” traffic lights system is put in place.
Park Road will be closed at the junction and temporary four-way traffic lights will go in for four days while county council engineeers make the change.
The new sensitive Mova system, adapted from one already in use at more remote high-speed locations within the county, will make the lights capable of altering timings to relieve tailbacks as they happen.
The aim is to relieve congestion through the town which builds up particularly when traffic is diverted from the A151/A17 by accidents or other emergencies.
South Holland district council deputy leader Nick Worth said: “This new system is being installed because of issues raised by Holbeach Business Forum and others.
“It’s being done at half-term when the roads are less busy in order to create the least possible disruption to traffic.”
