AN ERRATIC driver caused “total chaos” in Sutton Bridge when he ploughed through two gardens and crashed into another car.
A silver Mazda Coupe crashed into Vicky Hill’s garden on the corner of Bridge Road and New Road at about 8.25pm last Monday. It knocked over a street sign, ploughed through a fence and crashed into her neighbours’ garden before heading back into New Road, and straight into a parked car.
Vicky said: “I had just finished a phone call and then came into the lounge and the next thing I heard was ‘crash, bang, wallop’ and a car had come into my drive.
“It damaged the fence, went through into my neighbours’ garden, through their double gates and then smacked into a parked car on the other side of the road.
“It was just total chaos out here.
“This just goes to show how fast people are travelling along Bridge Road – it’s like a race track.”
Quite a few people came into the street to see the damage and police say they have taken witness statements from those people along with descriptions of the male driver, who left the scene after the crash.
Police say the car in question had just been sold and officers are trying to find out who bought the vehicle. They have seized the car for forensic investigations.
