Traffic lights return to Sutton Bridge to put final touches to Cross Keys Bridge

More news, no ads

Traffic lights have returned to Cross Keys Bridge for renovation works.

Long queues of traffic were seen around the Sutton Bridge landmark earlier this year while contractors undertook a£1.8 million restoration project.

Now temporary traffic lights are back on the bridge for 11 nights as Lincolnshire County Council completes the final jobs.

The lights - which will not be running during the day - will be operating from 7pm to 6am and returned on Monday. The signs say the lights will be in place until August 12 to cover any potential disruption due to rain.

Final jobs which will be completed include:

  • Modification of scaffolding to access to the turret, which is being repaired as part of the refurbishment
  • Re-erection of the crash barriers over the bridge
  • Removal of all scaffold to the turret

A council spokesman said:" This work is being carried out now because the team had been using the scaffolding over the past month, but that work is now finished so they are now in a position to take the scaffolding down."
