Spalding's Park Road is closed yet again for roadworks.

The busy route had been shut for four months from May to September while a fix was carried out to a dangerous dip. Those works followed a previous job last summer.

The current closure - between Winsover Road and Pennygate - has been caused by a new bout of Anglian Water works.

An Anglian Water spokesperson said: “Our teams are currently relining a sewer in Park Road, Spalding.

"This is due to historic issues with ground movement, which we have been working with Highways to resolve over the past few months.

"This emergency work will keep our sewer network resilient and prevent the need for long term disruption and road closures in the community in future.

"We’ve closed Park Road to keep our people safe while they work, with a full diversion and signage in place, and we expect the road to reopen by the weekend.

"We’d like to thank our customers and road users for their patience while we carry out this urgent work.”

Lincolnshire County Council's highways team had said that 'softening pockets of silty soil' under the road had been causing the problems with that stretch.

Brylaine Travel says its buses will be diverted along Pinchbeck Road and Woolram Wygate and will be unable to serve Park Road or Park Close during the closure.
