Disappointment at snub for Spalding on Lincolnshire tourism website
A town improvement group heard how Spalding barely features on a new-look tourism website for Lincolnshire.
Ian Marshman, historic environment officer at Lincolnshire County Council, told members of the Spalding Town Centre Steering Group they wouldn't be pleased with the area's representation on the Visit Lincolnshire website.
He said there's 'almost nothing' about the area on the county-wide site, barring one piece on Ayscoughfee Hall and one on Springfields.
The website shows Spalding bracketed together in a 'south countryside' section with Bourne and Stamford.
There are category pages for Lincoln, Boston, the Lincolnshire Wolds, the coast, 'heart of Lincolnshire', 'north of Lincoln' and the 'north countryside'.
At the meeting, held over Zoom yesterday, Mr Marshman said he had spoken to someone about the issue and was told that South Holland doesn't 'give them any information'.
He said: "I think the churches here and the Fens are something we should be promoting."
New steering group chairman Rodney Grocock - a former county councillor - said: "There's never been all that much coming from Lincoln to South Holland in any aspect."
He added: "Lincoln keep everything in the north and forget there's a south bit to it."
