TOURISM: Pricing ourselves out of the market

Have your say

My nephew, Billy Blough, is bass guitarist in American hard rock band George Thorogood and the Destroyers (top hit ‘Bad to the Bone’).

Usually the band tours Europe in summer, performing at a different town every night. However, Billy told me this year Britain is not on the itinerary because the costs are too high and the trip doesn’t pay.

Tourism can never be a viable prospect if we price ourselves out of the market

Travelling through London recently I heard several tourists complain about the expense. What does this say about ‘Rip-off Britain’? Tourism can never be a viable prospect if we price ourselves out of the market.
