Time running out for kids to design Flower Parade float

Have your say

KIDS – this is your last chance to show us your flower power.

The Spalding Guardian and sister paper Lincolnshire Free Press have teamed up with the Spalding Flower Parade organisers to give you the chance to let your talents bloom.

We are inviting all south Lincolnshire children aged 12 and below to design a float for next year’s big event on Saturday, May 5.

The designer deemed the best by our judges will see their effort turned into a parade-day float.

And the five children judged as the next best will join the winner on the float on parade day.

What’s more, the super six and their families can help decorate the float a couple of days before the parade should they wish.

This is your chance to have your idea transformed into a fantastic, tulip-covered creation which will take pride of place at the 2012 parade.

To celebrate Lincolnshire providing 20 per cent of the nation’s produce, the theme is ‘Food Glorious Food’ and we want to know what this means to you.

A teddy bears’ picnic perhaps? A traditional cream tea or hamburgers and hot dogs? Let your imagination run away with you and maybe win the opportunity to work with parade float designer Debbie Lishman to come up with your very own creation.

Spalding hosts the UK’s most famous and long-standing flower parade, featuring breathtaking floats decorated with thousands of hand-pinned tulip heads.

To enter the competition, complete the coupon on this page and send it, along with your design, to FLOWER PARADE COMPETITION, Spalding Guardian, Priory House, The Crescent, Spalding PE11 1AB.

Closing date is this Saturday, December 31.
