A TELEVISION debut awaits Holbeach United Football Club manager John Chand this week – but it’s nothing to do with his role with the Tigers.
The 33-year-old has been in the property industry for about ten years and was invited to take part in an episode of Channel 4 programme The Renovation Game.
The premise for the hour-long home makeover show is that a crack team of up-and-coming builders and designers put their own fees on the line if they fail to raise the value of a property.
The team is given £3,000 and three days to significantly increase the value of a dilapidated building.
Three estate agents give independent valuations of the property both before and after the makeover. These valuations are then averaged to give the final value.
Mr Chand, who is partner in the Boston office of estate agent Newton Fallowell, said: “The builders are only paid if they manage to increase its value by £15,000.”
An extra bedroom was added to the two-bedroom bungalow in Wrangle, north of Boston, and the valuations were filmed on November 5 and November 8.
Mr Chand said: “We weren’t told how the builders got on and I still don’t know the outcome.”
He added: “The show was initially given a four-week run but it’s been recommissioned.
“I’ve been watching it on Sky+ for the past few weeks and it’s a really good show.”
Pygott and Crone, which has a Spalding office, were also involved in the episode, which airs at 10.55am on Thursday.
