Test veterans’ case in Supreme Court

Have your say

A MOULTON campaigner faces a nervous wait as he and fellow nuclear test veterans’ battle for compensation is being heard at the Supreme Court in London.

Ex-servicemen, including Douglas Hern of Bell Lane, say their exposure to radiation during Cold War nuclear weapons tests in the 1950s left them with a string of health problems.

Veterans are arguing for their right to claim damages from the Ministry of Defence (MoD) at the Supreme Court in London – the UK’s highest court.

The MoD acknowledges a “debt of gratitude” but denies negligence.

The Supreme Court hearing should last three days and if veterans succeed they could launch damages claims in the High Court.
