A teenager from Kirton is set to perform for tens of thousands of people this summer after winning a place in a West End song and dance troupe.

Ben Terry (16), from Willington Road, has secured a coveted spot with London’s West End Kids following a tough audition process and trial period.

It will see the Thomas Middlecott Academy pupil perform at some huge outdoor events this summer, including Biggin Hill Festival of Flight, in Kent, next Saturday, West End LIVE, in Trafalgar Square, National Armed Forces Day, in Guildford, and Camp Bestival, at Lulworth Castle.

Ben said: “I’m thrilled to have been offered a place in the West End Kids song and dance troupe. I watched them performing at West End LIVE in Trafalgar Square last summer. The routine was so difficult, but they were so together and made it look so easy.

“I can’t really believe that in a few weeks I will be on that very same stage, performing alongside the casts of West End shows in front of thousands of people.”

Ben, who has performed with the Boston Operatic Society, has already made his debut with the troupe at the Common People festival in Southampton last weekend, saying: “It was such an honour to perform in so many people.”

Martin Williams, founder and artistic director of West End Kids, said: “We are delighted to welcome Ben to West End Kids. He is a talented young performer and we are confident he will be an asset to our troupe.”
