Teacher's Tinie Tempah knowledge wins students Teen Awards tickets while Spalding sees East Midlands in Bloom success in 2011




A school teacher’s knowledge of music star Tinie Tempah helped her win Teen Awards tickets for her pupils ten years ago.

Ellen McGarel, who was teaching Year 10 BTEC sport at Gleed Girls’ Technology College, entered a competition on Radio 1.

She was given an hour to find out all she could about the singer before going head-to-head with another teacher, and came out on top.

Spalding businesses impressed judges with their efforts for the 2011 East Midlands in Bloom competition.

Traders in The Crescent, Francis Street and Vine Street were singled out for praise, while Springfields Shopping and Festival Gardens won a gold award in the best commercial and retail category (pictured).
