Spalding Academy teacher slammed by Surfleet woman for response to pupil wearing false nails due to mental health issues

A school has been criticised for its response to a pupil wearing false nails due to her mental health issues.

Surfleet woman Georgina Shepherd’s daughter - who did not wish to be named - attends Spalding Academy and has battled anxiety for the last few years. This has led to her biting her nails - sometimes down to nothing - and she has therefore taken to wearing false nails to prevent her doing so.

However, Mrs Shepherd says a teacher at the school has ‘annihilated’ the idea and has continually told her daughter to take them off.
