Snow put a stop to Sutton St James Primary School’s first World Book Day - bu t there were some very colourful characters who answered the register on Friday!
The school had to postpone their original event, but all the children were given an opportunity in class to explain who they were dressed as, which book they were from and the reasons why they chose that character.
Throughout the day , the pupils enjoyed book based writing and art activities with each class given a traditional tale to rewrite from a different character’s perspective, to encourage creativity and lateral thinking.
The children all received a £1 book token and after school there was a book fair
In addition, the school started a free book swap. Children were asked to bring in an unwanted book, then had the opportunity to swap their own book for another to keep.
