A Super Saturday of arts fun was a big success despite poor weather.

Transported hosted its latest event at the weekend as part of a link-up with South Holland District Council.

They spoke to around 80 people, and launched a new programme which seen a photographer create portraits of local shoppers.

Nick Jones, Transported’s programme director, was pleased with how the day went.

“It was rainy, it was cold, it was wet, but we still managed to talk to people about positive things they want to see happen in Spalding,” he said.

“For the first time we had a photographer creating portraits of people, and that was special. He spoke to some very interesting people. It’s a portrait of the town in a way, with both the people that go shopping in the high street and some of the shop owners.”

The portraits will be exhibited at Spalding Gentlemen’s Society in March, with the final Super Saturday set for February 12.

The district council and Transported are considering expanding the project to markets in Crowland and Sutton Bridge.
