Summer fun lined up at Springfields

Have your say

It’s your chance to do it, make it, try it and buy it this summer as part of the free Springfields Summer Festivals at the Spalding shopping outlet.

There are many themed activities for all the family being packed into the festivals.

This weekend there is a fashion show, beauty tips and advice for the ladies, and especially for men there is “Toys for the Boys”, with a full-sized helicopter simulator (one of the only ones in the world available to hire), plus a full-sized F1 simulator.

It’s time to get healthy on August 11 and 12, with the Fit and Fun Festival, which highlights healthy activities with an emphasis on fun. You will be able to try out a tasty treat from the Smoothie bike and watch lively demonstrations featuring zumba and dance.

On August 18 and 19 it’s the Arts and Crafts Festival, with a variety of different demonstrations and interactive, hands-on experiences for both children and adults. There will be chances to express yourself with a graffiti car, plus card making, scrapbooking, jewellery making and felting.

August 25-27 sees the Bank Holiday Weekend Music Festival, which will have a strong military theme, especially on the Monday when it’s hoped there will be a Beating the Retreat ceremony and a flypast of an iconic aeroplane.

Saturday and Monday acts will cover a wide mix of genres, whilst Sunday will be more relaxed and chilled. All music starts from noon.

The gardens will be alive with fantastic colourful festival flags and a definite show stopper will be the brand-new 50 foot long flying octopus that will be landing shortly – the only one of its kind in the UK.

There will also be a children’s fun fair most weekends, with rides attractions such as ponies, flying rockets, a bouncy castle or a sleigh ride £1 each.

Tracy Thomas, Springfields communications manager, said: “This summer at Springfields we’ve got everything needed to entertain the whole family.

“We’ve really gone to town to make a visit to Springfields really worthwhile – the music festival weekend especially is set to be spectacular.

“We are also fundraising for some very good causes – ABF the Soldiers’ Charity, The Royal British Legion and Help for Heroes. Please come along to Springfields, join in the fun and support these charities.”
