A GROUP of Spalding students will be mixing with the stars thanks to their teacher’s knowledge of pop sensation Tinie Tempah.
Ellen McGarel, who teaches Year 10 BTEC sport at Gleed Girls’ Technology College, entered a Radio 1 competition to win tickets for the Teen Awards at London’s Wembley Arena.
After making the final 25, Miss McGarel was live on the Chris Moyles’ Breakfast Show on Tuesday when she chatted with Moyles and the team about the school, the class, and why she had entered the competition.
Miss McGarel was given an hour to learn all she could about Written In The Stars singer Tinie Tempah, before going back on air at 8.45am when she went head-to-head with another teacher.
Her opponent went first and correctly answered 11 questions in a minute.
Miss McGarel said: “With the gauntlet set I did my minute of questions and managed to answer 12 correctly, winning the tickets for the class to go to the awards.”
The star-studded line up includes One Direction, Pixie Lott, Jason Derulo, Joe Jonas, Ed Sheeran, Rizzle Kicks and Cher Lloyd.
