Resident first reported road flood issue in Pinchbeck two years ago

A disappointed resident is calling for fixes to finally be made to a regular road flooding issue – two years after he first reported it.

The Pinchbeck resident, who asked not to be named, has highlighted the issue on Spalding Road near the junction of Market Way since
October 2019.

Whenever there is heavy rainfall, this section of the road floods – covering one line of traffic and the pavement.

Speaking on Tuesday, the resident explained: “I have been reporting this issue for two years via the ‘Fix My street’ portal.

“I have numerous messages over the years from LCC Highways stating things like work will be planned in the budget, work is in progress, it’s fixed etc.

“However, the problem has never been fixed and is getting worse. It was impassable today with my child, and cars were spraying the water everywhere. Basically, any time it rains (even in summer) it floods.”

The resident walks their daughter to school on this path as it’s the only paved route into the village and they don’t like to risk walking alongside traffic on Market Way.

The Spalding Guardian has approached Lincolnshire County Council’s highways department about the matter.

This is one of a number of road issues this week.

A151 works again at Moulton

Motorists reported hold-ups on the A151 again, with yet more roadworks in Moulton.

A separate set of repairs by gas company Cadent finished on Friday, only for more pipe maintenance to begin nearby this Monday.

A Cadent spokesman said: “The works planned on High Road, Moulton were not in the same location, but were very close. We appreciate that this has caused disruption but the works carried out are essential to ensure residents and businesses in the area are kept safe and warm. We work closely with local councils to ensure as little disruption as possible”

Overnight A16 closures continue

Overnight closures on the A16 will be needed for an extra week – with bad weather blamed for the delay.

The road has been shut on week nights for the last couple of weeks for a ‘complete road reconstruction’ near Cowbit roundabout - and this work was due to finish on Friday.

However, the work is now scheduled to end on Friday October 15 instead.

During the closures– between 8pm and 6am on week days – the road is shut between the Applegreen roundabout in Spalding and the James Road/Peterborough Road South roundabout in Crowland.
