Students from Thomas Middlecott Academy at Kirton were inspired by top athletes at this year’s Summer Cup.

The pupils also competed with pride as they took home a number of medals from the David Ross Education Trust (DRET) Summer Cup.

Special guests Denise Lewis, Gabby Logan and former Scotland Rugby International Kenny Logan were there to cheer on competitors at the sporting event.

In total, 1,500 students from over 30 academies across the trust’s network competed.

A host of Olympic and Commonwealth athletes also supported the annual event, which saw students take part in a range of sports, from athletics and swimming to table tennis and boccia.

There were fantastic personal bests from Thomas Middlecott Academy students, including gold medals for Callum Clark and Sergio Lopes in 800m; Matthew Gahie in 100m and 200m; Ricardo Torres in hurdles and discus; Artjoms Jurkjans in javelin; Charlie James in discus; Chloe Baldry and Charlise Arundell in swimming; Megan Daniel in long jump; and Jospeh Parla in tennis.

The event was held at the Meres Sports Centre in Grantham.
