Recently we spoke to Spalding’s new town centre manager Dennis Hannant, writes Jan Whitbourn.
Dennis began to put roots down in Lincolnshire long before he retired from the Army, becoming a member of his local choral society and now performing regularly as a singer at numerous functions in the East Midlands. He has been a regular at Bakkavor’s Party in the Park at Springfields and was the main organiser for its 2014 event, as well as performing at Spalding’s Christmas lights switch-on.
Dennis, who was recently awarded the MBE, briefed us on a few ideas he has developed during his initial period in office in Spalding. It’s apparent he’s done his homework and is already developing an idea of what Spalding traders do and don’t want from him. He intends to develop an exciting food festival to help celebrate the unique skills that exist in this area and help promote it as the food processing hub of the UK.
He’s plainly very enthusiastic about his new job and is currently listening hard to what people say with a view to developing ideas for the future. He regards his job as a continually evolving one which needs to be as proactive as possible in developing new ideas to help promote Spalding town centre. We look forward to working with Dennis in the future and wish him every success in his new role.
