Spalding High School student Jemima Wakefield has won the College of West Anglia Fashion Challenge Competition – for the second year in a row.

The talented Year 9 pupil is the High School’s fifth winner in the competition to date.

Five other Year 9 and 10 High School students were also named as finalists.

This year’s challenge was to design a Theatrical Costume inspired by Alice in Wonderland.

This gave budding young designers from local schools the opportunity to create an individual and exciting new design idea to be presented on the catwalk.

The fantasy novel inspired Jemima to design a creative costume for The Caterpillar, an ambiguous and mysterious character.

Her lavish costume was created using a combination of chiffon, velvet and satin to reflect the silhouette of the caterpillar.

Spalding High School was also awarded The Best Series of Designs for the tenth year.

A Spalding High School spokesman said: “This is an outstanding achievement and congratulations go to Jemima and all who entered.”
