A day of silence from a student at Spalding’s South Holland Post 16 Centre raised over £200 for a children’s charity.
A challenge had been given to the students to raise money for charity during the summer term and Mrs Emma Barlow’s group chose the ‘Make a Wish’ charity, which funds giving children with terminal illnesses the chance to have a wish come true.
One of the students, Jade Hewett, carried out the sponsored silence for seven hours during a college day, and raised an amazing £208.05.
Mrs Barlow said: “Jade should be very proud of her efforts.
“She is currently studying Health and Social Care and is hoping to go on and practice as a paediatric nurse and I am sure with her level of determination, she will go on to succeed and make a wonderful nurse.”
