The Spalding branch of the Royal British Legion raised over £300 with a stall in the Marks and Spencer Simply Food store during a weekend fundraiser .
The cheque was presented on August 19 by store manager Andy Lightfoot to Peter Lyon of the RBL Spalding.
M&S employee Michelle Coaten said: “The RBL members contacted the store manager and asked if they could have a fundraising stall over the weekend. They were selling merchandise such as pens, notebooks and poppies on crosses.”
The weekend was also for the RBL’s Pedal to Paris, an annual fund-raising event that Marks and Spencer are sponsoring, with a team of 100 M&S employees nationwide raising £120,000 from the 300 mile bike ride.
