Have your say

A regular column from Tulip Radio’s Jan Whitbourn.

The Pride of South Holland Awards is returning once again on Saturday, June 18, 2016.

We want to hear your stories about the people who enhance the lives of others through their efforts – maybe just for a few neighbours or perhaps for South Holland as a whole.

We are also looking forward to hearing of the truly remarkable stories of bravery and courage of some of the people who live here.

If you know someone who deserves recognition – and let’s face it, we all know someone who has gone that extra mile for us and who we know should be rewarded for their help, support and kindness – please enter them for a Pride of South Holland award in one of eight categories now.

All nominations will be considered by the category sponsors, who will draw up a shortlist of three to go before the judging panel.

Judging will take place at the end of May, in time for a ticket-only awards ceremony on Saturday, June 18 at Spalding’s South Holland Centre.

Local performers will entertain guests and the winners will be presented with a certificate and trophy. We can also assure you there will be a celebrity to entertain you like last year, who will give out the prizes. The event is FREE for everyone to come to watch and enjoy an afternoon of entertainment and laughter.

Come and pick up a nomination form from us here at Tulip Radio or call 01775 712400 or email

Tulip Radio is also running a competition to celebrate her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday.

People of all ages are being invited to paint, draw, do craft work or knit to create a montage of images on canvas. Entrants will be allocated a year from the Queen’s reign and are asked to depict events the Queen has attended, including a flower of their choice as well as the name of the organisation/person being represented. Canvasses can be picked up from Tulip Radio.

For further information about getting involved in the canvas competition have a look at our website or give us a call on 01775 712400 and we will explain what you need to do.

The winning canvas will be presented to the Queen on behalf of South Holland.
