Nurse Alice Woodham, daughter of Mr W Woodham, of Winsover Road, Spalding, had volunteered for service at the front.

Nurse Woodham (29), had gone out to earn her own living at the age of 14, employed by Messrs Berrill & Enderby, Spalding. She then trained as a nurse St Thomas’s Hospital in London and was waiting to hear which unit she would join.

Pte J H Bingham, of Folkingham, with the 1st Northants Regiment, had been killed by a German sniper in France.
