A fund set up by a former Spalding Tulip Queen to help pay for the funerals of Elizabeth and Katie Edwards has now raised over £1,360 towards the £3,000 target.
Police found the bodies of dinner lady Liz (49) and her daughter, Katie (13), at their home in Dawson Close, Spalding, on Friday, April 15.
Two children have been charged with their murder.
Former Tulip Queen Amy Cook-Nykyforczuk (31), of Deeping St Nicholas, said on Friday that the fund had been growing by around £100 a day over the 11 days since it had been set up.
Comments left on the JustGiving site echo the shock, sadness and disbelief that Liz and Katie had lost their lives as well as showing support for their family.
Nothing is confirmed yet but Amy expects there to be a double funeral for the mum and daughter around the end of May and hopes the generosity shown by Spalding people so far continues over the coming days.
Amy says she’s heard from Liz’s family, who say they are overwhelmed by people’s generosity and by the fact that people are giving even if they didn’t know Liz or Katie.
“It’s a good thing to come out of a bad thing,” said Amy, who didn’t personally know Liz or Katie.
