Spalding listed in top 10 for highest property purchase rates
The joys of living in Spalding have been given national recognition this week as the area’s booming property market was recognised.
Spalding is listed in the top 10 places across the country for the highest property purchase rates during the last year.
Buyers are reported to be shunning cities and heading out into smaller towns according to research into property sales which was conducted by mortgate brokers, Haysto.
Huntingdon topped the list of places with the most property sales in 2020 with 1,048 purchases recorded.
Spalding came in at number nine with 1,023, following places like Doncaster, Bury St Edmunds and Preston. Portsmouth and Rochdale were among the places to have the least sales.
However Spalding’s Belvoir sales manager Marcus Doncaster says the pandemic has so far not been a big feature with only one or two people mentioning it.
But he is not surprised that Spalding has rated highly on the list.
He said: “I don’t think personally that we have see a marked increase in people moving from out of the area but we have seen a lot of local movers.
“I am not surprised that Spalding has featured on the list. The improvement in rail and road links have had a marked increase. We are also close to Peterborough.
“Places like Spalding are particularly popular for the mature people as we have a lot of bungalows.
