Warrant officer Bertie Albert Davis is pictured outside the Drill Hall in Spalding on the day war broke out in 1939.

His son James says his father is being given orders by Captain Barrel, who lived in Love Lane.

Bertie was a professional soldier, and served in the Army for over 18 years, earning five or six medals. These have sadly been lost, but James hopes to replace them.
