Martyn (49) and Jane (46) Peacock raised £325 for the Alzheimer’s Society by bravely skydiving from 5,000ft on their silver wedding anniversary.
The couple, of Quaker Lane in Spalding, were not just celebrating their special anniversary on August 10, they were fundraising for a cause that’s very close to their hearts, since Martyn’s father was diagnosed with dementia.
Jane said: “If they can do more research with more money then it’s better in the long term for future generations because it takes away people you love.
“We did it because we didn’t want to say later on that we wished we had done it. I was so nervous before but it was just amazing and I wanted to go back up and do it again!”
They raised money with a Just Giving page four weeks prior to the skydive at North London Skydiving Centre near March in Cambridgeshire.
Before the skydive, they got a tutorial on the basic rules of skydiving – simply do as the instructor tells you.
The pair first got together in 1989, got married in 1991 and have had two children, Shannon (20) and Marcus (25).
Jane said: “At first I only wanted a boyfriend who had a motorbike, but then I realised what a kind-hearted, lovely man he is and I could see myself spending the rest of my life with him. I love him to bits.”
