Spalding company, Fowler Welch hosted a Give a Gift event for St Barnabas Hospice, following the death of an employee’s father.

The event saw staff bring in items to donate to St Barnabas for future raffles and tombolas.

Fowler Welch HR manager Sam Lee wanted to give something back to the hospice that cared for her father.

Sam’s father Dermot McGinley was diagnosed with a brain tumour and spent two months in 2017 being cared for by the St Barnabas Hospice at Home team.

Sam said: “I give monthly to St Barnabas Hospice and am a member of their lottery, but it is lovely that my workplace has got involved too. The care my father received can only be described as fantastic. It was personal, honest and responsive, and nothing was too much trouble. The nurses treated him as if he was their own father. I was particularly touched when I overheard a nurse telling Dad to ‘have a safe journey’ as she left the day before he passed away.
