Spalding United Reformed Church has recently welcomed 27 guests on a partnership visit from Christuskirche in Speyer, Germany.
Members of the two churches have met regularly every two years since the initial partnership was formed 35 years ago and the group now comprises of some of the children and grandchildren of the initial family groups.
This year’s visit included a trip to Belton House, as well as individual family outings to sea-sides, towns and local amenities.
Entertainment by Paul Dickinson and members of his folk group followed a three-course meal at church on one evening and there was home-spun entertainment at a barbecue at a farm at Wragg March on another evening.
A Sunday morning service led by the Revd Robert Sheard was also followed by a three course meal.
During the visit gifts were exchanged between the two churches and thanks expressed to the organisers and host families.
Spalding’s organiser was Maralyn Robinson who was also responsible for preparing the church meals and appreciation was expressed to David and Leda Jones for their assistance in translations.
