Spalding charity shop Pennygate Patient Link has put out a plea for more baby clothes to be donated – and for new volunteers to help out.

The shop raises funds to help fund things like new equipment, welfare work and hospital transport for patients at Pennygate Health Centre.

Shop manageress Hazel Wright said: “We are desperately short of baby clothes but other than that we are not doing too badly for donations.

“We are always short of volunteers.

“There’s 11 of us and counting me there’s 12 of us.”

A number of the volunteers are in their 80s and Hazel says there’s no upper age limit for anyone who wants to give volunteering a go.

Hazel joined eight or nine years ago and remains a volunteer as a manageress.

“We raise about £15,000 a year and that’s not bad when you consider we rely on people walking past,” she said.

• Anyone interested in volunteering can call in between 10am-4pm Monday to Saturday and leave their contact details.
