A contagious enthusiasm for her work has won Kerry Wells a national award.
Kerry, who runs Barking Mad Dog Care Spalding, was awarded Franchisee of the Year 2016 at an annual conference in Cumbria.
Since starting the business ten years ago, Kerry has registered over 600 dogs and currently has around 250 ‘active’ pets using the dog sitting service for people going on holiday.
Judges noted Kerry’s enthusiasm and “exemplary customer service”, and said: “She continues to embrace change and is happy to introduce new and fresh ideas into her business.”
As for Kerry, she said she ought to have realised something was afoot when she walked into her hotel.
She said: “I should have known I was getting the big one because I walked into a suite with three huge rooms!”
The award comes with a £1,000 cheque, which Kerry says will come in useful for a new computer for the office and a phone upgrade.
She added: “I am thrilled. It’s the biggest accolade you can have.”
The host families that look after dogs also got a mention, with judges saying they were “fully on board and fully understand her long-term goal.”
