Driver from Spalding area arrested and then 'de-arrested' in connection with fatal crash in Peterborough where three people died

A 26-year-old man from the Spalding area has serious injuries after a crash at the weekend in which three people died.

The man was driving a Ford Ranger which was in collision with a Renault Megane on the A1139 Fletton Parkway in Peterborough just after midnight on Sunday.

Police in Cambridgeshire have named the three people who all died at the scene, and who were all travelling in the Megane, as sister and brother Jana Kockova (21) and Tomas Kocko (19), both Peterborough, and Miss Kockova’s fiancé Marko Makula (22), also of Peterborough.

The Ranger driver was originally arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while under the influence of drink and/or drugs.

However, a Cambridgeshire Constabulary spokesman confirmed that he has since been "de-arrested" and remains in a stable condition at Peterborough City Hospital.

Meanwhile the family of the three people who died shared a tribute, originally in Slovakian, which has been translated as follows :-

. Touch of a Dying Day

Mourning is suddenly spilling through my soul,

However I have no clue how it got there.

Perhaps only knowledge poured it there,

That you have left, that dying day has touched you.

So I am slowly losing you from my things, the room,

Your energy, the way we have known you to be like;

And I would like to let you know just for a short time

That I loved you, that I still like you.

So you move away, but my love flies with you,

Up there in the sky where it shines like a star;

So you can still peek with your night eye

Into people’s souls who meant so much to you.

Anyone who saw the collision should call Cambridgeshire Constabulary on 101, quoting incident number 2 of April 14.
