SOS from hospital car scheme

SOUTH Holland Voluntary Car Scheme has put out a plea for help because it urgently needs someone to replace its Spalding coordinator, Aubrey Lister, who retires shortly.

Paul Clark, who oversees the organisation’s work across South Holland, said Mr Lister is due to step down officially in the middle of next month.

Someone is urgently needed to take his place because Mr Lister normally handles around 80 calls a week so people can get lifts to appointments at doctors’ surgeries and hospitals.

Mr Clark said: “He has done a fantastic job for us and there are a lot of people who are extremely grateful to him, particularly as he is a volunteer himself.”

He said the coordinator is unpaid but receives telephone expenses.

Anyone interested in finding out more about the role can contact Mr Clark on 01406 365303.
