Ladies can get in on the Euro action as a fitness class with a difference comes to Spalding and Holbeach. For the first time in the area, Soccercise sessions are being launched for a six week block, starting on July 4.
Soccercise was developed by the FA and is an aerobic class, combining a variety of fitness exercises with a football. Elements of the class are delivered as a group exercise and others based on repetitions of specific exercises (i.e. press-ups, squats, sit-ups).
The inclusion of footballs adds co-ordination and core stability to familiar exercises - although there is no actual kicking of footballs included in these sessions. Footballs are provided and you don’t need specialised kit - just trainers, comfortable clothing and a drink.
The sessions will be delivered by Holly Barrett, of Spalding-based Give It Some Fizz Fitness, Sports and Education. She said: “Who can take part? Anyone! You don’t need to have played any football before to get involved. The exercises cater for all abilities and adaptations are included to make the exercises easier or harder depending on your fitness level.”
The sessions will be running for a six week block every Monday evening (starting July 4) at Monkhouse Lane Park in Spalding and every Wednesday evening (starting July 6) at Carter’s Park in Holbeach. Both classes will be held from 7-8pm.
