Smokers were given advice on how to quit

Smokers in South Holland were given free advice on quitting the habit as part of a national initiative.

No Smoking Day took place on Wednesday, March 11, and South Holland District Council played an active role in the campaign.

The environmental health team linked up with Smoke Free Lincolnshire to set up an information stand in the reception area at its offices in Priory Road, Spalding.

Representatives from Smoke Free Lincolnshire were on hand throughout the day to offer advice and leaflets to members of the public and council staff.

Julie Cavill, tobacco control programme co-ordinator for Smoke Free Lincolnshire, said: “We had a great deal of interest from people passing by, so it proved a very useful day.

“The aim was to make people aware of the support available to them and we got a lot of positive feedback.”
