Skating on Cowbit Wash in 1939

Victoria Nixon, of Spalding, also gave us this image taken on Cowbit Wash in 1939.

It again shows Victoria’s great granny Edna Seaman and her sister Vera, their father, Victoria’s great grandfather (front) and Vera’s husband Reg Bentley (back), who was a solicitor at Ollard and Bentley.

They possibly didn’t know it, but those carefree days were soon to end – and ice skating was to become a thing of the past in this district.
