Drivers heading into Spalding faced delays at a level crossing which failed to open this morning (Wednesday).

One driver who spoke to Spalding Today said traffic was kept waiting for about 50 minutes while engineers carried out repairs at Winsover Road level crossing.

A Network Rail spokesman said: "Shortly after 9.30am, we were advised that there was a fault with the signalling on the line near Spalding Rail Station.

"To protect the safety of motorists, pedestrians and those travelling on trains, the barriers at Winsover Road level crossing were kept in the 'down' position.

"The issue was fixed shortly before 10.15am.

"We would like to apologise to anyone who experienced disruption due to this incident and thank them for their patience whilst we worked to resolve the issue."
