After 23 years of saving lives, married father of four Richard King is urging others to do the same and sign up to be an on-call firefighter.
He’s calling on those who work or live in Long Sutton to join him and the rest of the crew next Monday to see if they’ve got what it takes.
Richard explains: “I signed up as my friends were already doing it, and getting paid for it, so I thought I’d give it a go, but I soon realised that the role meant so much more.
“Our job is vitally important. I’m making a real difference to my local community. I’d urge anyone who’s ever thought about being a firefighter, or wants to do something incredible to come along.
“They’ll be able to test their physical capabilities, ask any questions and take a look at some example written tests.”
The session run at Long Sutton Fire Station from 12.30pm until 3.30pm and from 4.30pm until 7.30pm.
