An exciting new competition kicked off in style at the weekend.
A special launch event for South Holland Dsitrict Council’s SHout and About contest was held at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field in Spalding.
Visitors enjoyed activities to be featured in the competition, including hula hooping, arts and crafts and aerobics. There were also live demonstrations, free food and the chance to meet with organisers from the council’s community development team.
Coun Gary Taylor said: “This was an excellent event and gave people a chance to see first hand what the competition is all about.”
The 12 week competition invites people to take part in weekly fun activities including arts, crafts, walking, exercise classes, cooking, gardening and dancing.
By completing the activities, participants will be awarded points which go towards winning a series of prizes. It starts on Monday and the first week’s activity is a photography contest.
SHout and About is open to everyone in the district and people can enter as individuals, families or in small groups of up to seven.
Competitors can sign up in Spalding, Donington, Crowland, Holbeach or Long Sutton and Sutton Bridge – but activities can be completed anywhere.
The team/family/individual with the most points in each area at the end of the competition will win a grand prize of £200 worth of vouchers.
