SPALDING pub shift manager Justin Ling and his wife Julie raised more than £4,000 for charity on a 1,678-mile pub crawl – without touching a drop.

The couple were welcomed back on the dot at 8pm on Friday at The Ivy Wall in New Road after visiting 133 fellow Wetherspoon’s pubs throughout eastern England and Northern Ireland on a week-long sponsored road trip for CLIC Sargent. the UK’s leading children’s cancer charity.

On their return Justin said: “It’s great to get back and be able to have a few drinks at last, knowing we’ve raised more than enough to sponsor one child for a year.

“We got back on schedule after seven days on the road, only spending 20 minutes in each pub, meeting managers and rattling buckets. People were very very generous.”
