Spalding woman sentenced for shoplifting
A 29 year old Spalding woman accused of shoplifting, told magistrates she was going into rehabilitation for addiction problems.
Mia Rock, of Pinchbeck Road, admitted stealing from two Spalding stores when she appeared at Boston Magistrates Court yesterday (Wednesday).
Marie Stace, prosecuting, said Ms Rock went into B&M Stores on November 11 and hid a bottle of vodka under her jacket, picked up some sandwiches and left the store without paying.
The court also heard on November 24, Ms Rock went into Aldi and stole a bottle of gin which she hid in her handbag. She was pursued by staff and the gin was recovered although Ms Rock left the scene.
Ms Rock, who was not represented in court, told the magistrates that she had been asking for help for some time but now her father was paying for her to go into rehabilitation in June.
Giving her a six month conditional discharge, the magistrates told her that it was because she had recognised she had a problem and that her family was helping her.
She was also ordered to pay £23 compensation to the store and £85 in court costs.
