South Holland heads digest government u-turn on primary schools reopening fully before summer

The Government's decision to backtrack on plans for primary schools to reopen to all year groups before September has come as "no surprise" to heads in South Holland.

Social distancing, staff numbers and limited space were all given as reasons why a full return for pupils, in addition to Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 pupils who came back last Monday, in the area would have been difficult.

In a parliamentary statement on Tuesday, Education Secretary Gavin Williamson admitted that: "The limit of 15 children per class obviously limits the ability to have as many year groups in school as we would like".
