Spalding Grammar holding sixth form open evening
Students considering their sixth form options for September 2020 can get an insight into the many benefits at Spalding Grammar School on Tuesday, November 5.
An open evening from 5pm to 8pm will highlight to Year 11 students and their families the broad academic, extra-curricular and pastoral offerings at the Priory Road school.
A Level results this year saw an impressive 42 per cent of students accessing Russell Group universities, including Oxford and Cambridge.
Adriana Leadbeater, director of sixth form studies, said: “All our Oxbridge and Medics were able to accept their offer, continuing to improve our record in these fields that is unparalleled in many other schools.
“We are becoming an academic force to be reckoned with outside of the local area, as we obtained our best-ever A Level results with 17 per cent A* - more than double the national average of 7.2 - with an outstanding achievement of 67 per cent of all grades being A*-B.”
Next week’s open evening will include presentations at 5.15pm and 6.30pm by headmaster Steven Wilkinson, Dr Leadbeater and students.
Dr Leadbeater said: “Our students leave our school as successful young adults with a sense of self-belief and purpose in life and they love coming back to visit us and tell us all about their journeys.
“It is important to me that these two years are going to be enjoyable and memorable, a time in their life that they will think of with a smile on their face once they leave this school.”
Meanwhile, an open day on Tuesday, January 21 will enable students to experience Sixth Form life. Students can attend lessons for five different A Level subjects on this day, as well as experiencing the sixth form study centre and coffee lounge. The deadline for open day applications is Monday, December 9.
For September 2020 admission, applications must be received by March 2. Application forms and the sixth form prospectus are available at www.spaldinggrammar.lincs.sch.uk or via the school office.
