Staff at Thomas Cowley High School in Donington cooked delicious dishes as part of their 13th annual Cook of the Year competition, judged by Steve Cottrell, Karen Blanshard and student Jamie Carrot.
Seven members of staff competed and were assisted by seven other members of staff who were named as the ‘skivvies’.
The winner was Katie Smith who produced a starter of seafood kebabs with green papaya salad and Xinxim de Galinha (chicken with peanuts).
‘Skivvy of the year’ was awarded to Matthew East who supported Jackie Abbott.
There was a special mention for Fay Houtlby and her pots-au-chocolate Kahlua, which were said to have ‘just the right amount of alcohol’ in them.
Diane Jenney, food technology teacher and organiser of the event, said: “The competition is a popular event celebrating the culinary expertise of staff at the school
“After the judging has taken place all the staff sample each other’s dishes, leaving no plate untouched.”
