A young couple from William Stukeley Primary School tied the knot in front of excited classmates at All Saints Church, Holbeach, on Thursday.
Key Stage One children Francesca Hubbard and Charlie Sutton took a dramatic glimpse into their futures as the walked arm-in-arm down the aisle of the 14th century church.
But it was only make-believe as the school found a colourful way of illustrating their studies on marriage and celebrations this term.
The mock service was led by the Vicar of Holbeach, Rev Rosamund Seal, and the “wedding” ceremony was made even more genuine by Francesca and Charlie exchanging real vows and real rings in front of proud parents, grandparents and staff.
Class teacher Ruth Townsend said: “All the children enjoyed a first-hand experience of the excitement of marriage as they attended the pretend wedding of Francesca and Charlie.
“Many of the younger children had never attended a wedding before so this enactment gave them a real example of the celebration topic they had been learning about in the classroom.
“At least 30 children had official roles, including the bridal party, reader in church, witnesses and photographers.”
