A spokesman said: "The bill at the end of this expedition came to £573.33 and was paid by Rotary from the generous donations to our Christmas Sleigh appeal.

"We had been grateful to Lidl for allowing us to collect with the sleigh at the store on several occasions in December 2020 and we thank everyone who donated to our appeal.

"We are delighted we have been able to support the Food Bank in this way and admire the work they do to help those in need during these difficult times.

"We still welcome enquiries about our work, about membership from anyone who would like to know more about helping us support people less fortunate than ourselves."
