Roll call of Spalding area dead growing in 1916

More men from the Spalding and South Holland area had been reported as having died in action in 1916.

That week’s roll call of soldiers killed included Pte S E V Busley, son of Mrs B Busley, of Albion Street, Spalding.

Pte H J C Foxon, of the Grenadier Guards and formerly working for Mr F Armstrong of Spalding, had died of his wounds, as had Pte Harry Allen, son of Mr and Mrs A S Allen, of Bourne.

Pte R W Buff, who was serving with the Suffolk Regiment, came from the Suttons and had been killed in action.

Pte E Riseborough, of the Coldstream Guards, who had been a porter at Whaplode Station before the war, had been killed in action in France, as had Pte George H Gee, who came from the Holbeach area.
